How It Works

How to Do Traffic School for an LA County Ticket

The complete process from citation to course completion, including the court steps, the separate $64 court fee, and Freeway's $39 promotional course price.

Four Steps, Start to Finish

1

Confirm You're Eligible

Traffic school eligibility is set by California state law and the court — not by us. You need all of these:

✓ Valid (non-commercial) CA driver's license  ·  ✓ Minor moving violation, 1 point only  ·  ✓ Court permission granted  ·  ✓ At least 18 months between the prior violation date for which you used TVS and the current violation date

Check your citation or log into lacourt.org to see if traffic school is available for your ticket. You can also call the LA County traffic call center at (213) 633-6300, Mon–Fri 8:30am–4:30pm.

2

Request Traffic School & Pay the Court's $64 Fee

Request traffic school at lacourt.org using your citation number or driver's license number. Pay your bail amount plus the $64 non-refundable traffic school admin fee directly to the court.

This court fee is separate from Freeway Traffic School. Start our course free, then pay $39 when you pass.

⚠️ Deadline starts here: Once the court approves your traffic school request, you have 64 days to complete the course. One 60-day extension is available if needed — request it at lacourt.org before your deadline.
